MAGELLAN APPOINTS VANESSA CASCIANO
LAKESHORE EAST COMMUNITY RELATIONS DIRECTOR

Magellan Development Group, LLC, has announced the appointment of Vanessa Casciano as Community Relations Director for Lakeshore East, the $4 billion mixed-use development near the intersection of Lake Michigan and the Chicago River.

Prior to joining Magellan, Casciano was campaign director for the Illinois Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and was named the chapter’s Woman of the Year in 2005. Previously she was active in telecommunications sales and project management. Casciano has a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Illinois State University.

According to Joel Carlins, Magellan co-chairman, her mission is multi-faceted, from coordinating community relations activities to serving as a resource for questions and comments from and about the community as well as planning events and programs for residents.

“Equally significant is the ongoing task of building and fostering positive relationships, promoting local awareness and reinforcing a positive cultural climate in our blossoming new community,” added Carlins.

Casciano is a resident of the Wicker Park neighborhood.

In addition to volunteer and later professional affiliation with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, she is a junior board member of the Illinois Chapter of Multiple Solutions of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Described as a village in the heart of downtown Chicago steps from Michigan Avenue, the 28-acre Lakeshore East incorporates all the elements of a traditional city community, including homes, retail, recreational opportunities and community amenities such as a lush public park and a planned elementary school — bordered by Wacker, Columbus and Lake Shore Drive and across Randolph Street just north of the city’s acclaimed new Millennium Park.

The Lakeshore East plan allows for the construction of up to 4,950 residences, a 6-acre public park, 2.21 million gross square feet of commercial space, 1,500 hotel rooms, 770,000 square feet of retail and a proposed elementary school.
