COAKLEYS HAVE A DIFFERENT VIEW OF CONDO LIFESTYLE

Maureen and Dan Coakley have a different view of the condo lifestyle than most condo owners in downtown Chicago
That’s because they have so many different views from their 15th floor, two-bedroom home on the northwest corner of The Lancaster, the first completed condo tower at Lakeshore East, the new village rising where the Chicago River meets Lake Michigan.
“We actually have a different view from every window,” notes Coakley, a retired Chicago elementary and high school teacher. “It’s breathtaking,” adds Mrs. Coakley, who recently retired as a reading teacher in suburban Mattesson.

The panorama they relish (left to right from their living room) includes Grant Park, Millennium Park, the new park at the center of Lakeshore East, the Chicago River and Navy Pier and its Lake Michigan environs.

But they admit that while the views help sell them on Lakeshore East, it was not what initially attracted them.
“We had already moved into a downtown condominium to be closer to our children, Sean and Elizabeth, who beat us into the city. Then we read about Lakeshore East and did some investigating,” explains Coakley.

“What was important to us was the quality of construction and the reputation of the developer. When we learned that McHugh Construction was the general contractor and Magellan Development was the co-developer along with NNP Residential & Development we were more than half sold.”

Are they happy with their move to the New East Side from a condo on Clinton Street?

“We’re more than happy. We’re ecstatic. Every day is a new adventure. And to our surprise it’s very quiet out here,” says Maureen.
“And classy,” adds Dan. “Can you believe that the entrance to the garage is lined in granite?”

Another plus was working with the development team. “They came highly recommended and deservedly so. They are both knowledgeable and easy to work with and you don’t often find that combination in new construction,” points out Dan. “Everything here is just so well done,”

They are also quick praise their floor plan, especially the fact that their two bedrooms – one of which has been converted into an office/den.

“Togetherness is great, but so is separation when you enjoy doing or watching different things at the same time. If Dan is watching a ball game in the den I can’t even hear him, and that’s fine with me,” concludes Maureen.

Of course, in some respects the Coakleys are like other buyers moving downtown to be in the center of the city with countless dining, shopping entertainment and cultural attractions wrapped in a care-free and often car-free lifestyle. Not to mention enjoying the conveniences of a luxury hotel with the security of a sound investment certain to appreciate.

Lakeshore East spans 28 acres, believed to be the largest parcel of downtown land under development in a major U.S. city.
This $2.5 billion mixed-use development in the rapidly-growing New East Side incorporates all the elements of a traditional city neighborhood, including homes, retail, recreational opportunities and community amenities such as a lush, 6-acre public park and a planned public elementary school – the first in downtown Chicago.

Residential developments at Lakeshore East, in addition to The Lancaster, currently include The Shoreham, a 46-story apartment tower, The Regatta, a 44-story condominium building and 340 On The Park, a 62-story condominium tower.
